Jesus is ____.

Some of you don’t know Him, some of you do but don’t believe in Him anymore, and to some, they don’t really care.

For me, right now, Jesus is my healer, He’s my caffeine, He’s my strength. He’s the one who gives me laughter and joy in my heart. He makes the gloomy days good days. He makes me see that what I’m going through is only temporary.

He makes me smile.

Who is Jesus to you?

Urge to Cook

There are only 3 things I like about the cold weather:

1) Wearing boots

2) Wearing coats

3) Eating stews

It’s that time of the year when we get our summer clothes out of the closets and place them in boxes to be stored until the sun comes back next year. We replace them with our sweaters, coats and boots. It is also that time of year when I can start making some stews again. Well, I still made some stews during summer but not as often as I usually do. Which is almost every time I cook. How can a Filipino not eat stews with rice? It’s just so hard. Well in my case it is. I’m guessing it would be the easiest thing for me to do if I ever decide on going gluten free.

I’ve been craving for Moroccan food ever since our Moroccan friend cooked us some amazing stew with couscous. I couldn’t get that dish out of my head. And so I went online and decided that dinner for tonight is this.

Pumpkin Couscous

I have a leftover pumpkin in the fridge that I didn’t get to use up after I made pinakbet the other day. Maybe I’d post a photo later on. Maybe not if I get too hungry and don’t have time to take a photo.

The sun is hiding today (sort of) but I’m looking forward to something good to eat tonight. That makes me happy.

I Thanked Him

I took this photo the other day. Nick and I were at Alki enjoying what’s left of summer. We just got back from Spokane and we didn’t feel like it was time to go home yet. So we took a walk for a little bit.

This photo made me happy. It doesn’t really compare to the real thing, ’cause the real thing was more vivid and bright. I was so tempted to jump in, but the water was freezing. I stared at it for a long time though. I thought about how God talks to us in ways like the ocean. He shows us the things He made to make us happy.

I sat close to the water. Closed my eyes and thanked God I’m alive. That doesn’t happen often. But I think it should. I don’t think I thank Him enough for that.

I’m addicted to Radiolab.  If you haven’t heard about it, it’s ’bout time you do. For Nick’s and my trip to Spokane, I burned a couple of episodes so we won’t find ourselves going crazy on the boring part of the drive.

Did you know that the Woodland Park Zoo is the first zoo in the US that made gorilla enclosures that matched the world gorilla’s originally live in? No more white walled boxes for them.

Did you know that male ducks have 14 inch penises? Hahaha!

Lots of “Did you know?” facts that you can share with friends, I’m not sure the fact about the duck is a good ice breaker for new friends though.

Curled Up Into a Ball

6/52 - Tired

Yesterday I got off the bus about 10 long blocks away from home.  I needed the long walk to clear my head.  It feels good to do this sometimes, especially when I know I’m going to feel the apartment closing in on me once I get home.

Things will change.  Things will be easier.  Eventually.

I have faith. I just need to work on my patience.
